Our program provides structured skill development and therapeutic support for individuals with serious mental health conditions.

At Brighter Day, our Mental Health Skill-Building (MHSB) program is designed to help individuals understand and manage their mental health conditions while maintaining stability, independence, and quality of life in their homes and communities.

If you or a loved one is experiencing challenges related to a mental health condition—such as Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar I or II Disorder, Schizophrenia, Anxiety, or difficulties with daily living skills, social isolation, money management, or medication adherence—our MHSB program can provide the support and guidance needed to foster growth, confidence, and long-term wellness.

Services Tailored to You

Our Mental Health Skill-Building program focuses on helping individuals develop the practical tools and coping strategies needed to live more independently and maintain emotional stability.

Services may include support and training in the following areas:

  • Management of psychiatric symptoms

  • Monitoring of health and physical conditions

  • Development of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

  • Building independent living skills

  • Enhancing social and interpersonal relationships

  • Financial management and budgeting

  • Connecting with and utilizing community resources

  • Improving organization and daily routines

  • Coordinating services with other professionals

  • Providing crisis support and intervention

Service Eligibility

To qualify for Mental Health Skill-Building Services (MHSB), individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Primary Diagnosis |
    The individual must have one of the following primary Axis I DSM diagnoses:

    • Schizophrenia or other psychotic disorder

    • Major Depressive Disorder (Recurrent)

    • Bipolar I or Bipolar II Disorder

    • Other diagnoses may be considered if a physician documents that the condition causes significant functional limitations in daily living activities.

  • History of Psychiatric Treatment |
    The individual must have a documented history of psychiatric hospitalization or crisis stabilization services.

​​

  • Medication Requirement |
    The individual must have been prescribed a psychotropic, mood-stabilizing, or antidepressant medication within the 12 months prior to admission.

 

  • Functional Support Need | 
    The individual must require assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) in order to function safely and effectively in the least restrictive environment.
